What is CSHCN?
The Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) Program has been helping take care of West Virginia families since 1937. The program was created as a part of the Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health to help families who have children with health conditions that need special care and to make sure families get the health care their children need.
The goal of the program is to improve the health and well-being of children with special health care needs by connecting families with trained Care Coordinators who work with you to:
- Arrange for early care
- Schedule medical exams and tests to see if there is a problem
- Get medical treatment
- Plan to make sure all needed care is arranged
